TOM BARTON

    Dr. Tom Barton is currently Director of Network Services at the 
University of Memphis (currently Memphis State University) where he began 
to work with the Vice Provost for Information Technology.  He currently has 
responsibility for all forms of telecommunications on and off campus.  
During this period he has also begun serving as formal and informal 
telecommunications consultant to other institutions, including MECCA, the 
University of Tennessee at Memphis, Methodist Hospitals, the State of 
Tennessee, and the College of William and Mary.  Previous to his 
promotion to Director of Network Services Dr. Barton was a faculty member 
of the Department of Mathematics where he was responsible for 
approximately 150 network nodes which used both TCP/IP and Novell 
protocols.  He recently conducted a year-long training class for 
Computer Services personnel and LAN administrators to teach them about 
installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting LANs.
