MECCA (Memphis Educational Computer Connectivity Alliance) is a consortium of academic institutions within the Memphis, Tennessee area. Its organizing membership is composed of the University of Tennessee, Memphis , Universtiy of Memphis , Christian Brothers University, LeMoyne-Owen College, Rhodes College , teaching hospitals, The Planetree Center and the Memphis City Schools (East High School ). Since the inception of this consortium, NSFnet connection grants have been obtained by several members of this original group. Other grant applications are being prepared by recently added members: State Technical Institue at Memphis , Shelby State Community College, and Southern College of Optometry (pending connections proposal)
