Since students normally make course planning decisions during their Eighth or
Ninth grade years, it is imperative that they receive adequate counseling on
the available options. See your High School Counselor early to select the
right path for you.
# Students must submit an application and meet the optional school requirements set
by Memphis City Schools to attend Wooddale's Aviation/Travel Optional School Program.
* In addition to the prescibed aviation courses, students will also take appropriate English,
mathematics, science, fine arts, languages, and social studies classes to satisfy normal
graduation requirements. Students in the Aviation/Travel Optional Program are encouraged
to choose a Combined Path of study during their high school years.
** A Computer Keyboarding or Business Marketing Course may be substituted during the Tenth
grade if student desires to follow the Travel & Tourism Marketing plan, or the Aviation
Technology I course can be taken during the Junior year.
@ The Aircraft Maintenance Technician Course is taught by certified AMT mechanics at the
Tennessee Technology Center's Aviation Campus. The school is approved by the FAA.
During the first three years at Wooddale, students taking the Aviation Technology path will
receive instruction preparing them to successfully complete the General Mechanics portion
of the FAA AMT license. Also, students who qualify will be allowed to register
for the Aviation Ground School course during their Senior year.
