Aviation Academy 2000---Mission Statement

The mission of the NASA-Cosponsored Aviation Academy 2000 Grant is three-fold. The first is to provide performance based curriculum designed to enhance high school students knowledge of English, mathematics, science, engineering, and technology skills by encouraging study in the field of aeronautics.

Students receive daily exposure to aeronautical principles during their integrated thematic Aviation curriculums. By using the Internet in the classroom students learn how to effectively communicate both verbally and electronically.

The various subject courses are written to focus and inspire minority, female, or otherwise underrepresented student populations to seek higher educational goals leading towards a vocational aviation certifications or to an advanced aeronautical degree.

Of equal importance, is the program's desire to spark students', who would not normally know about the aviation industry, interest in pursuing one of the many exciting careers that exist in aviation such as: Aircraft Manufacturing, Airframes and Aircraft Engine Maintenance, Avionics & Computer Technology, Aviation Technology 1 and 2,or, Travel and Tourism Marketing fields.
